There’s been something going on the past couple of weeks. Neither Don or I could put our finger on it. People were randomly singing in my shop, Santa visited with a poem, present were showing up on our porch and more. We were so perplexed as to what was going on. Then this letter below emailed to us. To say we feel blessed is not even close. These friends not only gave us gifts, they gave us the gifts of memories. We will cherish them forever. Thank you dear friends!
Don and Jet,
It comes with great joy and excitement for me to share that you have officially been the recipients of “The 12 Days of Christmas!”
As a group we wanted to bless you through this holiday season, and decided there was a great way to do it. An email was sent suggesting the idea to 12 couples. Without hesitation everyone said YES; they wanted to participate. A couple was then assigned to each day, and the only guide line was that they would do something for you. Then they emailed everyone else and blessed the group with some details of what they provided. Everyone had such a good time sharing the 12 Days of Christmas with you! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and hopefully you didn’t put this altogether.
Here’s a little summary to help you see how the 12 Days of Christmas unfolded:
On the 1st day of Christmas your true friends the N’s couldn’t find a partridge, or a pear tree, so they came as close as they could with a Christmas plant and dinner at Jose Peppers for free.
It was a surprise to all when God added to the blessing that day, sending the ALBC staff to Jet’s store and them taking “thyme” to pray. (Over 20 people showed up!)
On the 2nd day of Christmas your true friends the S’s and D’s blessed you with “2” pounds of Starbucks coffee beans, “2” non-spillable travel coffee mugs, “2” boxes of chocolate turtles, and “2” chocolate dove candies with a note that referred to scriptures within the Old and New Testament bringing the biblical side into this fun day! T was so nervous and afraid of what she might say, that she simply told you she couldn’t stay!
On the 3rd day of Christmas your true friends the K’s found French everything; coffee, cookies, soda, and even a French Hen. Then there was a funny little twist to the Outback dinner date, as B took B to the wrong restaurant and was 15 minutes late!
On the 4th day of Christmas your true friends the E’s called, and called those crazy birds, but none would answer. So the only appropriate gift was an empty Bird House filled with a Spin Pizza gift card, and a few kind words.
On the 5th day of Christmas your true friends the B’s came as close as they could to 5 golden rings with 5-Five Guy gift cards and 5 golden bracelets.
On the 6th day of Christmas your true friends the D’s looked all over for six geese a laying, It seems no gift could be better than this; 6 each of Oreo Cheesecake Truffle balls, Peanut Butter balls shaped as eggs, a gift card to Avenues Bistro, a classic R&R playlist CD, and a Mega Millions ticket. Really? What if you had won? I’m just saying…..those are some awesome friends!
On the 7th day of Christmas your true friends the B’s tried to find swans a swimming, had no luck, but found a young man singing. As he sang “Oh, Holy Night” it brought tears to everyone’s eyes. He also delivered a gift card to Jasper’s and you thought you knew exactly who sent him. But obviously you had no clue that the one who provided all of this was standing in front of you. Oh, surprises are so fun!
On the 8th day of Christmas your true friends the G’s said really… “maids a milking?” No, none around here, but gave a water globe from Things Remembered engraved with “Don and Jet….this is love” with some pictures of you inside. This was delivered with lots of cheer, and they ended in prayer asking for a miracle and for you both a good year.
On the 9th day of Christmas your true friends the M’s came close to 9 ladies dancing as anyone could find, a couple of tickets to the New Dinner Theater a perfect gift, they are so kind.
On the 10th day of Christmas your true friends the A’s found no Lords a leaping, but a plump man in a big red coat. As he arrived he read a little rhyming note. It provided some details of who he really is, it just didn’t seem right to leave Santa out of this Christmas cheer. He delivered a Chief’s blanket, Twas the Night Before Christmas book (in which Don can verbally record himself reading), and a Starbuck’s $10 gift card, to keep him from sleeping.
On the 11th day of Christmas your true friends the V’s thought it was 11 poppers popping, so they chose movie tickets with lots of popcorn, and Christmas caroling too! They actually joined on the 10th day, because Santa’s little elves needed to rest on Sunday and go to church like you.
On the 12th day of Christmas your true friends the S’s still have a gift for you. They tried to hire drummers drumming, but it seems L and the drummers came down with the flu!
When this started we wanted to simply bless both of you. As you can see we all had so much fun sharing with each other as the days unfolded. This is certainly a Christmas we will never forget! It seems we all experienced something Jesus taught in Acts 20:35 as He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
