Many of you know what my last 3 years have been like. I quit writing because I didn’t think I had anything more to say. I’ve been told, nope! You need to write! I’m not one of those that writing comes easily to. So bear with me…I’ll try to bring you interesting things to hopefully brighten your day.
In September of this past year, 2016, I got married! Having come from such a sad and lonely place, I never thought I would marry again. God had something else in mind for me. I met Jon on a dating website. As I said, I got lonely. Just wanted a companion to go to dinner with and hang out. We both fell for each other very quickly! He’s such a great man. Quiet and reserved, so much like me! LOL, ABSOLUTELY NOT! He is my balance. I feel so blessed to have him in my life.
So, wedding planning…I didn’t have a wedding with my first husband, Don. We were married by the “Bergermeister”, mayor of the town we were living in Germany. I’d never planned a wedding of my own, but I had helped plan both my daughters weddings. I had so much fun! I kept telling Jon this is normal, hold on for the ride! We chose to marry at The Stanley in Downtown Lee’s Summit. I’ve always loved the venue and LOVE Cindy and Bryan King. They were so wonderful to work with. I’ve known Andrea Adams-Britt, my pastry chef for over 8 years now. She used to teach here at the shop. And our florist, Amy Cason, I’d known for 10 plus years. Funny how things worked out and I got to work with some of my favorite people!
One of our favorite days, was our cake tasting with Andrea. Oh my! 12 cupcakes!!! Ok, you know I didn’t eat all 12, but I did taste each one. I had a planning book I made to keep track of dates, and all those details. In it I also put photos and ideas. The cake idea we wanted was fairly simple, but elegant. Topped with real flowers from our florist. It was gorgeous! The sad part, was I only got one bite. Yes, the bite we shared when cutting the cake. I have heard though that everyone else loved it! Thank goodness, Andrea will be making us a little cake for our first anniversary.
Our music wasn’t your typical “wedding” music. We aren’t formal people. But we do love music, our music. So, we listened and listened to music…picking each song for each moment. Now whenever I hear one of our songs on the radio, it transports me back to our wedding.
Our food was fabulous! Ok, at least that’s what we heard. We didn’t have a chance to even see the food tables until we received our photos. Funny thing, as we were leaving the reception, we called Pizza Hut and ordered pizza! We were so hungry! Never did pizza taste so wonderful.
In the time since our wedding, we sold a house, and bought another. We have our “Jet and Jon” house. And the pups have a fenced backyard that they love.
Life isn’t always what we dream it should be…sometimes, it’s better!
